# Evolving

Chainmons can be evolved through training, item consumption and even trading! Not all Chainmon species can be evolved but a majority of them.

Evolving drastically changes the overall look and visual elements a Chainmon possesses as well as modifying their base stats to that of the evolved version. Individual and Training Values are preserved and do not change.

## Ways of Evolving <a href="#evolving-waysofevolving" id="evolving-waysofevolving"></a>

#### Training <a href="#evolving-training" id="evolving-training"></a>

After reaching a certain minimum Level, certain Chainmons evolve automatically - unless you specifically want to delay or stop this process - maybe you want to keep the cute little first evolution stage until Level 100 for cosmetic reasons?

#### Consuming special resources <a href="#evolving-consumingspecialresources" id="evolving-consumingspecialresources"></a>

Some Chainmons only evolve by feeding them specific items like Berries. When reaching a minimum Level and having been fed enough specific Berries, they will evolve.

#### Trading <a href="#evolving-trading" id="evolving-trading"></a>

In rare cases, the evolving nature of Chainmons is triggered by actively trading them with another player through the Marketplace.

#### Environmental Variables

Depending on effects like weather, time of day and other environmental changes, certain Chainmons only evolve during specific conditions.&#x20;

#### Squad Composition

With specific other creatures active in your Squad, some Chainmons feel more connected and require a specific [Resonance](https://wiki.chainmonsters.com/game-mechanics/squads/resonance) to be reached in order to evolve.
