# Chainmons

Chainmons are the core foundation of the Chainmonsters ecosystem. They are used to assemble your squads, train and fight battles, farming and crafting, and to progress throughout the game.

Each player will begin the game with their very own starter Chainmon. Each Chainmon is one-of-a-kind - just like you! Unless you already own a Chainmon, you’ll start with one of three possible options with their own randomly generated stats and nature. As you progress in the game, you’ll have the opportunity to make new choices, train and evolve your Chainmon, and capture a wide variety of new species over time.

Each species comes with its own perks and battle mechanics so assembling a squad that fits your playstyle and counters any challenge ahead, is key to succeed and climb the ladders.

Through the use of [AI and Machine-Learning](/ai-and-machine-learning.md) players will have to pay close attention to their unique creatures and figure out the best strategies to train them for any situation.

Training is a vital part of the game and is directly influenced by each player's unique playstyle. Thanks to the player-driven economy, anyone can become a true master in training and other disciplines and fight for dominance in the Arenas, Gyms and leaderboards.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://wiki.chainmonsters.com/game-mechanics/chainmons.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
