The Chainmonster token (ticker symbol **MONSTER**) is a **multi-chain utility token** and is fundamental to the Chainmonsters ecosystem, serving as a central element in both the gameplay and governance aspects.

$MONSTER tokens will **originally be minted** on the **Ethereum** blockchain with a fixed supply of 1 billion. However, Layer 2 bridges will be used to enable simple, fast, and cheap usage and transactions of $MONSTER for users.

#### **In-Game Utility and Long-Term Value**:

* The $MONSTER token in Chainmonsters is designed to offer true in-game utility and is therefore deeply integrated into all game systems, enriching and supporting the full game experience.
* Utility: The $MONSTER token enhances all aspects of the game and provides access to exclusive rewards and in-game benefits through conversion to Chards.
* Value Accrual: The tokenomics of $MONSTER are structured to reward active contributors and players, encouraging long-term engagement and investment in the ecosystem.

**Earning $MONSTER:**

* Players accumulate $MONSTER tokens, the primary token of Chainmonsters as rewards for actively engaging in the game, participating in events, and competitive play. This integrates the token into the core gaming experience. $MONSTER will be rewarded to those most actively engaging and showcasing their in-depth knowledge about the game and its mechanics.

**Usage of $MONSTER:**

* Staking or Exchanging for Shards: Players have the option to either stake or spend their $MONSTER tokens to gain Shards within the game.
* Purchasing In-Game Items: Once a player has acquired Shards, players can strategically spend them on various in-game assets and boosts, such as resource packs, exclusive limited-edition cosmetics, and time acceleration boosts. This not only enhances the gaming experience but also adds a layer of strategy to resource management.

**Dual Role in Gameplay and Governance:**

* Beyond in-game advantages, $MONSTER grants further access to utility outside of the game including governance and actively participating in the continued game development. We want to integrate the community, and $MONSTER stakeholders as tightly into the overall processes as we can, enabling players to have a say in the overall process.
* $MONSTER will be usable for validation and for major treasury usage voting.

$MONSTER is deeply integrated into both the gameplay mechanics and the governance system of Chainmonsters making it a vital aspect of the whole experience. Allowing users to influence the game's development and economy provides a level of inclusion enhancing the whole ecosystem.

There are multiple currencies that are important for players throughout the Chainmonsters Ecosystem.

[$MONSTER](/usdmonster-tokenomics.md): The primary token of the Chainmonsters Ecosystem

[SHARDS](/usdmonster-tokenomics/token-utility-shards.md): A currency to enhance and boost certain aspects of the game as well as accessing exclusive rewards.

GOLD: Most commonly available free-to-play in-game currency.

### Additional utility in Tapmonsters

Embracing the true cross-game spirit, $MONSTER will have utility in the Tapmonsters mobile spin-off upon TGE as seasonal gameplay rewards, Governance driver, and the pre-conditional means of obtaining in-game boosts and advantages.
