2. **Survival Mode**: Players must survive against waves of increasingly difficult enemies, starting with basic monsters and escalating to rare and elite monsters. For instance, the challenge might start with three waves of common monsters, followed by two waves of rare monsters, and end with an elite boss monster.

4. **Boss Battles**: Players face off against powerful boss monsters, which requires specific strategies to defeat. This boss might have phases where it changes elemental types, requiring players to adapt their monster team and tactics accordingly.
5. **Capture Challenges**: The objective is to capture specific rare or powerful monsters within a limited number of attempts, typically five. Players must weaken the monster to a critical health level and use special capture items effectively.
6. **Resource Management**: Players are given limited resources, such as ten healing potions and five energy boosts, and must complete a series of battles using only these items. For example, they might need to defeat twenty opponents without running out of healing items.
7. **Skill-Based Challenges**: These tasks might involve using specific monsters or abilities to complete objectives. An example might be to win five battles using only Hydro-type monsters or to defeat opponents using only the "Freeze" ability.
8. **Exploration Challenges**: Players must navigate complex environments, such as a dense forest or an abandoned mine, to find hidden items or rare monsters. This mode tests players' exploration skills and their ability to interact with the game world effectively.
9. **Community Challenges**: These are large-scale challenges where the entire player base works together to achieve a common goal, such as defeating a global boss or achieving a cumulative number of 10,000 captures of a specific monster. Rewards are distributed based on participation and contribution, such as unique cosmetic items or in-game currency.
10. **Seasonal or Event Challenges**: Special limited-time challenges are often tied to in-game events like a Halloween event where players must defeat event-themed opponents. These challenges might offer unique rewards such as event-exclusive monsters, festive costumes, or special items.

# Arenas

In Chainmonsters, Arenas are special locations where players can engage in competitive battles for control and rewards.&#x20;

## Arena Mechanics

1. **Exclusive Control:**
   * **Single Ownership:** Each Arena can be controlled by only one player at any given time. The owner holds exclusive rights to set up and manage the Arena.
2. **Customization by the Owner:**
   * **Squad Definition:** The controlling player selects a Squad of Chainmons to defend the Arena.
   * **Environmental Conditions:** Owners can set specific environmental conditions, such as terrain or weather, that can influence battle dynamics.
   * **Layout and Special Rules:** The owner also defines the layout of the Arena and any special rules that apply, giving them a strategic edge in combat.
3. **Challenging the Arena:**
   * **Specialization:** Challenging players must adapt and specialize their Squads to overcome the unique conditions and rules set by the Arena owner.
   * **Entry Fee:** To challenge an Arena, players pay a small fee in Shards, the premium in-game currency. This fee accumulates in a reward pool.
4. **Reward System:**
   * **Fee Accumulation:** The Shards paid by challengers build up over time in the Arena’s reward pool.
   * **Victory Rewards:** When a challenger successfully defeats the current Arena owner:
     * **Owner’s Reward:** The previous owner receives a portion of the accumulated Shards as a reward for their period of control.
     * **Successor’s Reward:** The new victor earns a share of the accumulated Shards as a reward for overcoming the challenge.

#### Strategic Importance

1. **Designing Unique Challenges:**
   * **Maximizing Earnings:** To maximize earning potential, Arena owners need to create unique and challenging conditions that are difficult for challengers to overcome. The longer they maintain control, the more Shards they can accumulate.
   * **Incentivizing Challengers:** Well-designed Arenas attract challengers, increasing the reward pool and providing incentives for players to train and specialize their Chainmons.
2. **Encouraging Specialization and Adaptation:**
   * **Strategic Preparation:** Challenging an Arena requires players to strategically prepare and adapt their Squads to the specific conditions and rules, promoting dynamic and strategic gameplay.
   * **Rewarding Skill and Strategy:** Players who successfully adapt and train their Chainmons to meet the challenges are rewarded, encouraging continuous improvement and strategic thinking.

#### Summary

Arenas in Chainmonsters are competitive battlegrounds controlled by individual players who set up unique challenges through customized Squads, environmental conditions, layouts, and special rules. Challengers must pay a fee in Shards to attempt to take control of the Arena. Both the current owner and the new victor earn a portion of the accumulated fees when the Arena changes hands. Effective design and strategic gameplay are key to maximizing earnings and rewards in this engaging, competitive aspect of Chainmonsters.

# Chainmons

Chainmons are the core foundation of the Chainmonsters ecosystem. They are used to assemble your squads, train and fight battles, farming and crafting, and to progress throughout the game.

Each player will begin the game with their very own starter Chainmon. Each Chainmon is one-of-a-kind - just like you! Unless you already own a Chainmon, you’ll start with one of three possible options with their own randomly generated stats and nature. As you progress in the game, you’ll have the opportunity to make new choices, train and evolve your Chainmon, and capture a wide variety of new species over time.

Each species comes with its own perks and battle mechanics so assembling a squad that fits your playstyle and counters any challenge ahead, is key to succeed and climb the ladders.

Through the use of [AI and Machine-Learning](/ai-and-machine-learning) players will have to pay close attention to their unique creatures and figure out the best strategies to train them for any situation.

Training is a vital part of the game and is directly influenced by each player's unique playstyle. Thanks to the player-driven economy, anyone can become a true master in training and other disciplines and fight for dominance in the Arenas, Gyms and leaderboards.

# Chainmon Attributes

<figure><img src="https://3938857582-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FtDi10wH6i67iIiGA4kOy%2Fuploads%2FyRV9fwisqQHIakNpD8DX%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=c9564b23-3e6a-4273-be71-5bed6eed1d05" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Chainmons come in a wide variety of species and are further differentiated by their variant and randomly generated individual attributes.

## Primary Stats <a href="#chainmonattributes-primarystats" id="chainmonattributes-primarystats"></a>

### Base Stats <a href="#chainmonattributes-basestats" id="chainmonattributes-basestats"></a>

* ATK: A high Attack value makes your Chainmon hit harder and dealing inceased damage.
* DEF: Determines the defensive capabilities, neglecting any incoming damage to some extend.
* HP: How many Health Points and attacks your Chainmon can sustain before it faints and requires reviving.
* EM: The strength and knowledge in dealing elemental attacks on an opponent is determined by their Elemental Mastery.
* STA: How fast a Chainmon can attack and how long it can endure in continuous farming.

### Individual Values <a href="#chainmonattributes-individualvalues" id="chainmonattributes-individualvalues"></a>

Each Chainmon species has the same BASE stats - However, on birth or when encountered in the wild, the most important individual stats are determined which are fixed. These are fully immutable and create the major unique difference between the strength comparison of Chainmons inside a species.

### Training Values <a href="#chainmonattributes-trainingvalues" id="chainmonattributes-trainingvalues"></a>

Consistent training, battling and utilization of Chainmonsters is key to increase their power and utility. Use your Chainmon in battle and send it off to the Gym to train independently in order to increase their individual training values. Each training value is capped and can be targeted specifically by defeating certain Chainmon species often, feeding them special berries and targeted training in the gyms.

Special Berries can also be used to target a specific stat increase.

### Potential Rank <a href="#chainmonattributes-potentialrank" id="chainmonattributes-potentialrank"></a>

Chainmons in the wild are usually inexperienced so by training them you can awake their full Potential!

When hitting their maximum Potential you need to spend resources and special items to further enhance their ability to improve. A Chainmon’s Potential Rank greatly boosts their baseline power and strengths and sometimes is required before you can evolve it.

## Secondary Stats <a href="#chainmonattributes-secondarystats" id="chainmonattributes-secondarystats"></a>

* CritRate: The chance of dealing a critical strike, dealing double-damage!
* CritDMG: When landing a critical hit, further increase the critical damage bonus.
* Heal: When healing or consuming items, your Chainmon recovers much health faster.
* Shield: Certain Chainmons and traits come with shield-bearing effects, increasing damage reduction up to completely neglecting incoming damage once!
* Resistance: When being hit by an attack, your Chainmon has a chance to fully neglect the damage.

# Chainmon Species

The world of Chainmonsters offers a wide variety of different Chainmon species, all with their own perks and advantages over other elements.

#### Elements <a href="#chainmonspecies-elements" id="chainmonspecies-elements"></a>

The available Chainmon elements/types are the following:

* Pyro
* Dendro
* Electro
* Hydro
* Geo
* Anemo
* Cryo
* Crystal

# Evolving

Chainmons can be evolved through training, item consumption and even trading! Not all Chainmon species can be evolved but a majority of them.

Evolving drastically changes the overall look and visual elements a Chainmon possesses as well as modifying their base stats to that of the evolved version. Individual and Training Values are preserved and do not change.

## Ways of Evolving <a href="#evolving-waysofevolving" id="evolving-waysofevolving"></a>

#### Training <a href="#evolving-training" id="evolving-training"></a>

After reaching a certain minimum Level, certain Chainmons evolve automatically - unless you specifically want to delay or stop this process - maybe you want to keep the cute little first evolution stage until Level 100 for cosmetic reasons?

#### Consuming special resources <a href="#evolving-consumingspecialresources" id="evolving-consumingspecialresources"></a>

Some Chainmons only evolve by feeding them specific items like Berries. When reaching a minimum Level and having been fed enough specific Berries, they will evolve.

#### Trading <a href="#evolving-trading" id="evolving-trading"></a>

In rare cases, the evolving nature of Chainmons is triggered by actively trading them with another player through the Marketplace.

#### Environmental Variables

Depending on effects like weather, time of day and other environmental changes, certain Chainmons only evolve during specific conditions.&#x20;

#### Squad Composition

With specific other creatures active in your Squad, some Chainmons feel more connected and require a specific [Resonance](/game-mechanics/squads/resonance) to be reached in order to evolve.

# Chainmon Traits

Traits are special effects and modifiers that Chainmons can have. They enhance the individual Chainmon by giving an extra effect in certain situations like battling or being generally better at farming or crafting that their peers. Not all traits are necessarily on the positive side though and can have a negative impact on their performance.

IF a Chainmon is lucky to be bestowed by a trait, then they come in different tiers of quality:

* Tier 1: Basic effect quality/strength and impact.
* Tier 2: Enhanced effect quality/strength and good impact.
* Tier 3: Exceptional effect quality/strength and great impact if used strategically.

## Types of Traits <a href="#chainmontraits-typesoftraits" id="chainmontraits-typesoftraits"></a>

### Battle <a href="#chainmontraits-battle" id="chainmontraits-battle"></a>

* Battle traits are exclusively used in battles, triggering certain active or passive effects when attacking or being attacked. Some battle traits are on the passive side, e.g. only active while holding off in your squad while recovering health points.

### Farming <a href="#chainmontraits-farming" id="chainmontraits-farming"></a>

* Exclusively used as means of influencing their performance in farming-related activities. Some Chainmons appear to be born with two left hands!

### Crafting <a href="#chainmontraits-crafting" id="chainmontraits-crafting"></a>

* Whenever you are crafting/enhancing or building, the speed of that process is greatly dependent on the assigned Chainmon.

### Training <a href="#chainmontraits-training" id="chainmontraits-training"></a>

* Different species gain experience and levels quicker than others. Same if they are born with traits that influence that process.

# Chainmon Abilities

During battle, abilities are the primary source of dealing damage to your opponents.

Each Chainmon comes with a Primary, Secondary and Ultimate ability slot. Through Training, Evolving and special items you can replace a Chainmons active set of ability to your desire and playstyle.

Each ability has a baseline of stats that determine their performance in battle:

* Elemental Type
* Base Damage
* Stamina Costs

#### Elemental types <a href="#chainmonabilities-elementaltypes" id="chainmonabilities-elementaltypes"></a>

Each Elemental type has an advantage but also disadvantages against other types.

#### Base Damage <a href="#chainmonabilities-basedamage" id="chainmonabilities-basedamage"></a>

The raw unscaled damage output - before attacker’s and defender’s stat calculations.

The higher the base damage, the greater the potential to deal massive amounts of damage.

#### Stamina Costs <a href="#chainmonabilities-staminacosts" id="chainmonabilities-staminacosts"></a>

Every time this ability is used, your Chainmon will lose some Stamina. Choosing the right order of attacks and abilities can give you an edge over your opponents.

### Ultimate Ability <a href="#chainmonabilities-ultimateability" id="chainmonabilities-ultimateability"></a>

Each Chainmon Species comes with a unique Ultimate ability that charges up over the course of many battles. Time it’s use right to deal massive amount of damage or change the tides of battle to your advantage. If you hit a roadblock with a strong Quest or challenge, charge up your ability and try again!

Players are able to find and craft special items that instantly recharges this Ultimate ability.

# Chainmon Variants

Each Chainmon exists in three different variations:

* Base
* Chroma
* Elite

### Base <a href="#chainmonvariants-base" id="chainmonvariants-base"></a>

The most commonly encountered variation. Exists as the original visual form.

### Chroma <a href="#chainmonvariants-chroma" id="chainmonvariants-chroma"></a>

A very rare variation, sometimes only encountered in highly specific circumstances. It comes with a different visual form in Chroma-colors depending on species.

### Elite <a href="#chainmonvariants-elite" id="chainmonvariants-elite"></a>

# Catching

In Chainmonsters, creatures are examined and captured through the Replicator device. This stellar piece of technology comes in many variations and utilizes Shard-Energy to function.

Every time you attempt to capture, a bit of Replicator-Energy is consumed. The success rate greatly depends on the moment of time you are attempting to capture a wild Chainmon, as it is influenced by the following criteria:

#### Capture Success Determinator <a href="#catching-capturesuccessdeterminator" id="catching-capturesuccessdeterminator"></a>

* remaining Health left of opposing Chainmon
* level difference between your squad and opposing Chainmon
* current Replicator tier/level and bonus affixed against opposing Chainmon
* any currently active negative status effects applied to opposing Chainmon

Strategic selection of your battle style as well as taking close attention to the current circumstances are key to master the capturing of wild Chainmons and therefore optimizing your capture-success-rate.

After you have successfully captured a wild Chainmon it is added to your Squad or Storage and can further be trainer, upgraded or utilized.

# Replicator

## Lore <a href="#replicator-lore" id="replicator-lore"></a>

Replicators are exclusively manufactured by N-Corp. N-Corp recruits from mostly high school aged kids, for unknown reasons, but is comprised of employees and agents of all ages.\
Certain kids are screened and chosen to receive Replicators upon turning 16. This is supposed to be a fair process, but most of the time only the rich and connected are chosen. Once a kid has been chosen, and proven they can activate a Replicator, they are sent over to the prestigious Skyview University located near N-Corp’s Headquarters. Upon graduation they are given cushy agent roles with the Company.

# Squads

Squads are the backbone of your journey into Chainmonsters and all of its aspects.

Assembling a squad of Chainmons that not only support each other in battle through Resonance but also combine their forces to defeat any foe is key to victory.

# Resonance

When assembling your squad, pay attention to the elemental types of your chosen team. Certain elements resonate with each other greatly, causing boosts and buffs to their performance both in battles and other activities!

Understanding squad Resonance and team composition is key to get a strategic edge over your opponents.

# Morphing

Morphing is an entirely new and unique approach to monster-taming games.

YOU as the player can transform into any of your previously caught Chainmons both inside and outside of battles!

This enables players to gradually increase their character's capabilities including getting access to extremely powerful abilities and ways to travel across the map like running, swimming and flying!

The more Chainmons you capture, analyze and strengthen your bond with, the more opportunities to use specific Chainmons in various situations you will unlock.

### World Farming

Early on and with limited access to Land, you should morph into Chainmons specialized in certain farming skills to make gathering resources easier. This also presents you with the opportunity to learn which species are better suited for specific tasks and duties than others.

### Diverse Gameplay Styles

Later on, you may find yourself prioritizing a well balanced active squad of Chainmons for competitive play or harder challenges. You are free to mix and match to your liking but keep Squad [Resonance](/game-mechanics/squads/resonance) and tactical play in mind.

# Real-time Battle System

The core focus of your Chainmons is fighting against other foes and increasing your character's strength over time.

Your player character inhibits a unique Morphing capability that allows you to transform into any of your active Squad's Chainmons and participate in real-time battles right in the game world.

There is active and passive battling, either you jump right into the action yourself or let your trained AI take over and enjoy the show.

## Core <a href="#battling-core" id="battling-core"></a>

Battles are happening right inside the game world, letting YOU take full control over the abilities of your captured Chainmons!

There are two types of battles:

* PvE: Player vs Environment - wild encounters, NPC/Story battles and challenges.
* PvP: Player vs Player - unrated, friendly battles but also contesting in Arenas and climbing the competitive leaderboard.

When engaging in battle, you can choose to morph into any of your active Squad's Chainmons to either engage or flee from this encounter.

<figure><img src="https://3938857582-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FtDi10wH6i67iIiGA4kOy%2Fuploads%2FHE0Vmabf3BHDO1c2qR5d%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=18232afe-add9-4bb0-814f-cfdff2716b69" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Actions <a href="#battling-actions" id="battling-actions"></a>

Depending on game mode and battle type, the available actions might differ but remain overall the same:

* Morph: Switch to a different Chainmon from your Squad and gain their abilities and powers, but also their elemental advantages/disadvantages while in their form.
* Cast Ability: Aim at your foe in either melee or range combat and deal damage in real-time.
* Use items to heal up gradually and try not to take any further damage
* Switch back to your character and use the Replicator device to capture wild Chainmons

Leaving the battlefield by running out of their aggro-range or entering Safe-Zones like cities, gives you enables you to recover your wounds and adjust active Squad.

Other players in your environment can join at any time to support you with harder encounters. They cannot harm you outside of PvP content though.

### Effect on Training

These battles are part of the overall [Training](/game-mechanics/training) mechanic so every single battle counts towards your progression and learning goals.

When you actively control the action then your Chainmons are going to imitate your playstyle in future battles and occasions. Else, if you let them have a go at it then they still improve their overall behavior and skill against specific opponents and situations autonomously. The more you play the more intelligent and personalized your Chainmons become.

### Rewards <a href="#battling-rewards" id="battling-rewards"></a>

After you have successfully left the battlefield, you will be rewarded with exp, items and other kind of loot! If other players have helped you, the rewards are split up equally based on impact to incentivize a fair and collaborative gameplay experience.

# Training

Training your Chainmons is a vital part of the gameplay experience and is heavily influenced by machine learning and a player's individual playstyle!&#x20;

Every Chainmon species and unique variation has a base level of intelligence associated with them. Favorable stats like IVs and traits are no longer the only core principle of determining their performance in battle and other situations. Instead, players will find that each Chainmon comes with a unique nature that gives them an advantage or disadvantage in various situations like battling and farming.

By utilizing this nature as a base level of intelligence and utility, players can target train their individual creatures to either expand their capabilities or highly specialize them for dedicated tasks and opportunities.

The full potential of each Chainmon needs to be discovered, evaluated and trained over time to make them fit player's individual preference and playstyle.

Ways to train your Chainmons:

* **Active Training**: Battling against other Chainmons
* **Passive Training**: Creating custom playgrounds inside a Dojo for specific tasks
* **Reinforcement**: Consuming special items like Candies and Berries

All of these opportunities combined provide the core of your Chainmons' performance across all aspects of the game!

## Active Training

Of course, every unique Chainmon has access to a core training data set which resembles their experience across all gameplay elements but these will differ from Chainmon to Chainmon across all species and is assigned on birth and catch. We want players to take an active part in training in order to make them not only truly unique for each individual player but also enable a level of customization beyond anything out there.

### Imitation Learning

Imitation training requires players to be part of the action, enabling a fine-grained control and customization potential. This, however, prevents players from actively engaging in other gameplay elements while their training takes place on their screens.

#### Battling

Every battle against either a wild Chainmon or NPCs is part of the learning process for this particular Chainmon. Through imitation, it will understand your movement, timing of abilities, evading and overall decision making to understand how you as a player are behaving in the context of battles against specific opponents.&#x20;

In battles, players can decide if they want their Chainmons to battle fully autonomously against the opponents or jump right into the action themselves, take control and intervene if necessary. This switch is fully dynamic so let the action and your training take place or introduce new maneuvers on the fly. It's all part of the learning process.

#### Playground

In order to improve certain less battle-oriented activities including farming resources and other tasks, players can take part in pre-defined playgrounds and minigames that all serve as valuable training opportunities for their Chainmons.

Some examples are:

* Obstacle Courses
* Survival of enemy waves
* Races against other Chainmons

These playgrounds are aimed for players themselves trying to achieve the best times or highest scores which - through imitation - the more often completed, the better your Chainmons will perform autonomously in Passive Training.

## Passive Training

Chainmonsters can be sent off to train passively where they fully autonomously complete hundreds of battles, tasks and activities while players can focus on other gameplay elements. This is incredible useful for players who want to maximize both their personal time and efforts as well as the full potential of their Chainmons.

### Custom Dojos

Players who own a Dojo are able to create custom playgrounds, challenges and experiences through an easy to use in-game level editor. Other players are limited by the free Dojos spread across the game world but they can rent out a custom Dojo from an owner to also utilize their custom opportunities.

#### Designing a Dojo

Through the in-game level editor, owners can choose from a list of pre-built templates tailored for specific training activities or decide to custom build it from scratch using a wide variety of utensils, components and training goals. Through this flexible system, players might be able to find ways to speed up their personal training journey by being creative and experimenting!&#x20;

#### Training in a Dojo

Any of your Chainmons can be sent off to train using your configured and built experiences and therefore players can target train highly specific aspects of their Chainmon's skills over time.

#### Renting out Dojos

Owners can choose to make their Dojo available to the public in exchange for a price set in $MONSTER. This Dojo experience can then be used by the paying player for both active and passive training.

#### Upgrading Dojos

Initially, Dojos have a limited capacity of simultaneous training capabilities which can be expanded and upgraded by the owner over time. This enables additional Chainmons to be trained passively as well as freeing up additional slots for other players to rent from the owner.

## Reinforcement

In order to reinforce your individual Chainmon's behavior, learning process and skills, players need to reinforce their creatures by either rewarding or penalizing them on a regular basis.

This goes a long way over time and can be compared to a real example of e.g. training your dog or pet.

If it completed a hard challenge nicely and you feel that it did a couple of actions and decisions very well, then you can decide to further reinforce their behavior which improves their ability to either continue in that direction or try something else next that satisfies your expectations better.

Reinforcement is enabled through various options in-game, here are a few examples.

#### Emote Menu

The Emote Menu allows you to interact both with other players as well as your Chainmons.

* Patting your Chainmon after a successful challenge
* something something that prevents bad behavior

#### Special food

Special food can be found and acquired throughout gameplay and each species has their favorites!&#x20;

* Berries are dependent on the Chainmon species. Give them a little treat
* Candies are species-independent. Different candies reward positive results in various amounts.

The bond between your Chainmons plays an important role in how well they behave and follow your instructions. No Chainmons will be harmed during training and beyond.

# Dojos

Dojos are locations of training and empowerment where your Chainmons can be sent to in order to passively gain experience and targeted improvement of Training Values. Sometimes they learn entirely new abilities in that process!

<figure><img src="https://3938857582-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FtDi10wH6i67iIiGA4kOy%2Fuploads%2FqgrX5gtKoK8BfurO3YaQ%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=4cd48264-d250-4ba0-adcb-1449f3d41057" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Dojos <a href="#gyms-dojos-gyms" id="gyms-dojos-gyms"></a>

Spread across the world, these Dojos can be found in most major cities. Depending on your progression in the story, you may not have access to all of them right from the start.

Dojos can also be built on your Land, providing additional opportunities to train more Chainmons at the same time.

Sending off your Chainmons for training keeps them busy for a a various time period in which they can not participate in other activities. In return, they passively gain experience and increase their strength over time.

Use them as a convenient time saver when actively working on other Chainmons.

### Customizing Dojos

Players who own a Dojo are able to create custom playgrounds, challenges and experiences through an easy to use in-game level editor. Other players are limited by the free Dojos spread across the game world but they can rent out a custom Dojo from an owner to also utilize their custom opportunities.

### Training Capabilities and Upgrades

A Dojo starts out with a single slot where a single Chainmon can be assigned to. These slots as well as further more specialized training capabilities can be enhanced through upgrades over time, enabling additional Chainmons to be trained simultaenously.

### Renting out Dojos

Players can build customized Dojos on their own Land and rent them out to other players in exchange for [$Monster](/usdmonster-tokenomics). Specific Dojos offer specialized and improved training capabilities so adjusting your personal Dojos based on your own and other player's unique needs is essential to maximize training and yield.

# Interoperability

Interoperability is a huge part of Chainmonsters, allowing you to import your legacy Chainmonsters NFTs directly into the game and even use them elsewhere!

### Minted Chainmons

Minting any captured Chainmons into an NFT, makes them interoperable by design thanks to the ERC721 Standard we use. However, we go more than one step further and partner up directly with other exciting games and Web3 projects, to enable a deep cross-game integration, making Chainmonsters NFTs playable and providing utility inside and outside of our own game experiences.

#### &#x20;

# Cross-Game Interoperability Framework

[Spielworks](https://www.spielworks.com/) is building a cross-game and cross-platform Open NFT Framework where any user and NFT creator can submit their project to in order to make them accessible in both Chainmonsters as well as any other project.

## For Players

Players and especially non-Web3 gamers have been waiting for blockchain-enhanced games to truly showcase the utility that the blockchain space has to offer. We have to **go further** than saying, that an item is *unique* or *limited* and *decentralized*. This has no meaning without actually providing **real use cases and opportunities** for said NFTs.&#x20;

Our goal is to offer players as much creative freedom to express themselves as possible.

## For Developers

Right out of the box, we are supporting any NFT collection no matter if purely 2D or actual 3D. However, if your project's collection is fairly new and not-yet established in the space, it may not be fully integrated into our Framework yet.

Developers can actively contribute their collections by adding additional metadata, branding and - according to our to be established new open standard - upload any necessary files that enhance the support in games including Chainmonsters further.

The supported levels of interoperability can be put into these three categories:

* Basic: No actions required, supported games can use your collections as 2D textures and stamps in-game.&#x20;
* Enhanced: Upload standard-conforming 3D assets to enable a much deeper integration and more creative utility in supported games.
* Full: Grant an Open-Framework license to integrated games and players utilizing their NFTs for creating derivative work. Customized characters, creatures and other NFTs can be minted using your IP.

See Chainmonster's [Customization](/game-mechanics/customization) options for how games can utilize your collections in-game.

# Customization

We at Chainmonsters want to push the traditional limits of customization through [interoperability](/game-mechanics/interoperability) further than ever.&#x20;

Players create their own unique character in-game, equip cosmetics unlocked through gameplay and make it truly unique through additional opportunities powered by any of their existing Third-Party NFTs!

After connecting their wallet, players can import and select any NFT and imbue it on top of their in-game character. There are various ways to attach it and we want to offer players as much creative freedom as possible, enabling both simple stamps but also complex patterns, structures or textures:

From quirky and fun designs, to highly exclusive looks. Wear your most interesting and/or valuable NFTs around!

Some examples of how to utilize their NFTs for customization:

* Stamps: Turn an NFT into a stamp and place markings over your body parts and/or clothes.
* Patterns: Use an NFT as a unique pattern for individual clothes.

Chainmonsters will be able to import both 2D as well as 3D NFTs out of the box for anyone to use. Creators and Third-Party projects can further enhance support their individual NFT collections by actively participating in our [Open Cross-Game Interoperability Framework](/game-mechanics/interoperability) to make them shine in their best possible light in-game.&#x20;

# Housing

<figure><img src="https://3938857582-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FtDi10wH6i67iIiGA4kOy%2Fuploads%2F6svEuSfTLxhJkmNIupQ5%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=243587d7-72c0-4e26-9238-9d8859fea431" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

By hiring specialized NPCs such as Agricultural Advisors, Harvest Coordinators, Training Coaches, and Maintenance Supervisors, players can optimize their Land management, resulting in faster task completion, improved Chainmon performance, and overall enhanced gameplay.

# Farming

Farming is a great opportunity to obtain limited resources over time. You can farm your land by yourself or assing Chainmons to do the work for you. Depending on the Chainmon, they are more or less suitable for specific tasks, so capturing a wild variety improves your chances for more yield.

Through [Morphing](/game-mechanics/morphing), you can farm resources spread across the world yourself. However, it's more efficient to build a base and setup autonomous opportunities for your Chainmons to farm for you instead.

# AI and Machine-Learning

Chainmonsters is using groundbreaking new opportunities presented by AI technology to enhance both the content production as well as the underlying gameplay mechanics.

While many traditional games are slowly adapting to the power of AI, we are integrating it deeply into almost all aspects of the game.

Examples of how AI is utilized:

#### Custom AI model

Spielworks is building a custom AI model that is trained solely on our own art and designs which enables us to speed up internal development processes aligned with the overall vision and complexity of the Chainmonsters game world.&#x20;

#### Dynamic Game World with Web3

The true power and potential of AI enhanced games should offer a unique and tailored experience for each individual player. In Chainmonsters, AI is deeply integrated into the storytelling and game world, enabling us to craft a unique experience. Player's choices and actions right from the creation of their unique avatar to NPCs and Quests they encounter, are all tailored to their playstyle, encounters and other players interactions.

* Quests and NPCs

  Each player progresses through the same overall storyline but no playthrough is the same! NPCs offer dynamic choices and reactions depending on factors like time of day, weather conditions, world events happening in their vicinity, and other players around them! This goes so much further than traditional games with pre-scripted conditions - in Chainmonsters, these decisions are dynamicly handled by our custom AI model, making every playthrough unique!
* Unique and exclusive access\
  By connecting e.g. NFTs and the player's wallets directly into this AI model, we are able to deliver further truly unique experiences. If you hold a special NFT you get access to specialized quests or locations that are otherwise locked and hidden, rewarding NFT holders with a range of exclusive rewards otherwise not obtainable.&#x20;
* Interoperability Aspects\
  Since we are pushing the Interoperability features above and beyond, we introduce Third-Party NFTs into the mix. Since no game can manually support millions of other NFT collections, we utilize our custom model to categorize and then craft an AI-generated lore for each individual collection and NFT to fit inside the Chainmonsters game world.

#### Ever evolving creatures

Besides the advantages in internal content production, we want to make this technology available to players minting and discovering entirely new creatures, species and variations.&#x20;

* Discovery process through Minting\
  When you capture a Chainmon in-game, you can turn it into an NFT to reveal their hidden stats and potential. However, enhanced by our custom AI model, we want to enable players to actively discover entirely new species and traits in this process. During Minting, you can meld three Chainmons together. If you are lucky and the right circumstances apply, you will be rewarded by a new unique creature with combined parts of the melded Chainmons. Thanks to our AI model, it fits perfectly into the existing handcrafted universe and provides true uniqueness compared to other species. This process can be repeated an infinite amount of time, further enhancing opportunities and potential the more players experiment with this system.
* Core Discovery loop\
  On its own, this feature is pretty unique but we are taking it to the next level. By continuously expanding the game's base-set of creatures, abilities and components, there will always be something new to discover and create.

# Machine-Learning for Training

Chainmonsters presents a stellar and truly unique approach to incorporating state of the art technologies like Machine Learning with exhilarating gameplay.

We are putting the player and their individual Chainmons back into action by introducing smart and continuously learning Chainmons that can be adjusted, enhanced and specialized by players tailored around their own unique playstyle and preference.

## Core Concept

Every Chainmon has a unique [nature](/game-mechanics/chainmons/chainmon-natures) that pre-determines their initial intelligence, ability to act and adjust within current events like battling, farming and other activities.

Through the player's actions, unique playstyle, [training](/game-mechanics/training) and optimized strategies, the Chainmons enhance their capabilities over time into either highly specialized variants or all-rounders suitable for any task.

#### Base Level of intelligence

When Chainmonsters launches, each species has a base intelligence associated through their unique nature.&#x20;

There are many variations of base level intelligence so depending on your luck, progress in the game and other factors you may capture a variation that may be further or lesser advanced than their overall peers or even have a solid foundation in more specialized activities already.

This aspect is fairly balanced but still enables a level of variation that further boosts each individual's uniqueness.

## Training individual Chainmons

The [Training](/game-mechanics/training) section outlines the different opportunities to train and utilize the Chainmons in much more detail so we will focus on the underlying high-level concepts a bit more here:

### Learning over time

Any action a player takes when interacting with a specific Chainmon influences their overall learning and improvement aspects over time.

Chainmonsters utilizes a mix of [imitation and autonomous training](/game-mechanics/training) to enable both truly unique and customizable experiences depending on each player.

#### Training Model

For example, the player actively controls their Chainmons in battle against opponents which generates training data used for imitation of this particular Chainmon against this specific opponent. While initially, the player-controlled capabilities and optimization might be more effective than the pre-trained model - of course also depending on the player's skills and deep understanding of the game mechanics - with more training and experience the Chainmon aims to become superior and can take on hard encounters and boss battles fully autonomously.

## Web3 Aspects

Chainmonsters - as an OG in the blockchain space - would not be Chainmonsters if it did not incorporate those exciting aspects into Web3 as well.

As every Chainmon is trained individually, their trained model is going to be truly unique compared to any other Chainmon out there. This further enhances the opportunities provided through e.g. trading with other players as minted NFTs can be sold and bought on the Marketplace.

Some players who are really mastering both the game mechanics as well as seeking to optimize their playstyle might be encouraged to get into a true trainer role where they utilize their unique skillset to perfect the training capabilities and take on improving and then selling a Chainmon on the market.

This process is further enhanced and optimized through other unique NFTs including but not limited to Land, Dojos and materials.

### NFTs

Both minted Chainmons as well as materials and resources like food, candies and key items exist as NFTs on blockchain. This creates a player-driven economy approach where the community has to work together to achieve goals faster together. Specialized roles are created naturally including trainers, farmers, crafters and creators of specialized challenges and playgrounds in a User-Generated environment including the Dojos and Arenas.

### Arenas

A limited amount of Arenas are spread across the game world and each can only be controlled by a single individual player at the same time. The controlling player defines the Squad and environmental conditions that should give them a slight edge in combat. Other players need to specialize their competing Squad to those unique conditions until they can take over and make up the new rules.

More information regarding [Arenas ](/game-mechanics/adventure/arenas)can be found [here](/game-mechanics/adventure/arenas).

#### Challenges

We want to encourage and incentivize experimentation and offer a set of ever changing challenges to our players where their AI squad needs to defeat our very own trained Chainmons! The expectation is that these challenges will be harder initially and then after targeted training players can get an edge over them.

See [Challenges](/game-mechanics/adventure/challenges) for other examples where our ML models are being utilized.

# Token Utility (Shards)

In Chainmonsters, [$MONSTER](/usdmonster-tokenomics) can be exchanged for **Shards** that act as the primary resource to obtain highly exclusive and limited rewards while also enhancing the gameplay experience.

<figure><img src="https://3938857582-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FtDi10wH6i67iIiGA4kOy%2Fuploads%2FTwGKlmCbFok8fS6u6ftT%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=9b08b0d2-869b-49b7-8c94-436cff4e500d" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Earning Shards through $Monster**: Players can gain Shards using their [$MONSTER](/usdmonster-tokenomics) in two different ways. The first gradually rewards long-term token holders: by staking [$MONSTER](/usdmonster-tokenomics), players can accrue Shards as a slow but steady bonus. Alternatively, players can spend their [$MONSTER](/usdmonster-tokenomics) directly, exchanging tokens for Shards at a favorable, discounted rate. This way, players can align their short- and long term strategy dynamically and improve their gameplay experience through their own choice.

**Purchasing Shards with Traditional Payments**: Chainmonsters also allows players across all platforms to use traditional monetary transactions via In-App-Purchases to obtain Shards as well, connecting the traditional cross-platform game availability with a diverse player base.

**Versatile Utility of Shards**: Once acquired, players can strategically spend it on various in-game assets and boosts, such as resource packs, exclusive limited-edition cosmetics, and time acceleration boosts. This not only enhances the gaming experience but also adds a layer of strategy to resource management.

#### Examples of utilizing Shards:

* Premium Shop: Obtain in-game assets, packs, boosts, and exclusive, limited rewards.
* Replicator: Instantly recharge your Replicator to continue catching without waiting for it to recharge over time.
* Stamina: Chainmons farming and training all day need a break. Restore their Stamina instantly.
* Crafting: Obtain exclusive helper NPCs that grant you access to exclusive variations, blessings, and limited blueprints. Reduce building time for construction work.
* World Events: Participating in certain daily world events consumes energy. Use Shards to access additional events and obtain more resources quickly.
* Arenas: Generate shards gradually by controlling and defending the arenas.&#x20;
* Dojos: Build and then rent out Dojos to other players.

Through Shards, the [$MONSTER](/usdmonster-tokenomics) token gains a complex and exhilarating utility layer that enhances almost all aspects of the game and offering unique opportunities for both token holders as well as the overall community by earning them over time.

# Battling Loop

**Introduction**: Combat in Chainmonsters is a dynamic and essential aspect of gameplay, pivotal for progression, training and obtaining of certain resources.

## Real-Time Combat Dynamics in Chainmonsters

**1. Squad Composition:**

* **Team Building:** Players form a squad of monsters, typically consisting of a balanced mix of types and roles. Each monster in the squad has unique abilities, strengths, and weaknesses.
* **Synergy:** Effective squad composition leverages synergy between monsters, such as pairing monsters whose abilities complement each other (e.g., one monster debuffs enemies while another deals extra damage to debuffed targets).

**2. Battle Initiation:**

* **Encounter Triggers:** Battles are initiated through random wild encounters, PvP challenges, or story-driven events. Players are alerted when a battle begins, and the scene transitions to a designated battle arena.

**3. Real-Time Control:**

* **Active Commands:** Players actively control their monsters during combat and use their abilities directly, or switch to a different squad member. Each command requires quick decision-making.
* **Cooldowns:** Abilities have cooldown periods, preventing them from being spammed and adding a layer of timing strategy. Players must decide the optimal moments to use powerful abilities.

**4. Positioning and Movement:**

* **Dynamic Movement:** Players need to move around the battlefield to dodge attacks, gain strategic positioning, or close in on enemies. Positioning is crucial for avoiding area-of-effect (AoE) attacks and setting up advantageous attacks.
* **Tactical Positioning:** Players can position themselves to protect weaker allies, create defensive formations, or set up pincer attacks on enemies.

**5. Abilities and Skills:**

* **Unique Abilities:** Each monster has a set of unique abilities that can include offensive attacks, defensive maneuvers, healing, buffs, debuffs, and special effects like stuns or poisons.
* **Type Interactions:** Abilities interact with monster types (e.g., Pyro, Hydro, Dendro) in a rock-paper-scissors manner. Understanding and exploiting type advantages is key to dealing maximum damage or minimizing incoming damage.

**6. Resource Management:**

* **Energy and Mana:** Each ability costs Stamina. Players must manage this resource wisely, balancing powerful ability usage with conservation.
* **Healing and Items:** Players can use healing items or abilities during combat to keep their monsters in fighting condition. Item usage must be timed effectively to avoid wasting resources.

**7. Status Effects:**

* **Buffs and Debuffs:** Abilities can apply status effects like increased attack power (buffs) or reduced defense (debuffs). Managing these effects is crucial for gaining the upper hand.
* **Conditions:** Status effects can also include conditions like poison, burn, freeze, or stun, which have varying impacts on combat dynamics, such as dealing damage over time or temporarily disabling a monster.

**8. Real-Time Strategy:**

* **Adaptive Tactics:** Players must constantly adapt their tactics based on the flow of battle, opponent actions, and the current state of their monsters. Quick thinking and flexibility are rewarded.
* **Combo Moves:** Coordinating abilities between monsters to create powerful combos can turn the tide of battle. For example, one monster might immobilize an enemy while another unleashes a high-damage attack.
* **Ultimates**: The most powerful ability of each monster charges up over time and can be prepared prior to a strong encounter. This unleashes a powerful effect or deals massive damage and should be utilized extremely carefully.

**9. Victory and Rewards:**

* **Defeating Opponents:** The goal is to defeat all enemy monsters while keeping as many of your own monsters active as possible. Victory is achieved by reducing the opponent’s monsters to zero health.
* **Battle Rewards:** Successful battles yield rewards such as experience points, items, in-game currency, and sometimes new monsters. These rewards contribute to the player’s overall progression.

**10. Post-Battle:**

* **Healing and Recovery:** After battles, players may need to heal their monsters using items or at healing stations to prepare for future encounters.
* **Strategic Adjustments:** Players can analyze the outcome of battles, adjust their squad composition, and refine their strategies to improve performance in future encounters.

#### Summary

The real-time combat dynamics in Chainmonsters are designed to provide a fast-paced, strategic, and immersive experience. Players must effectively manage their squad, make quick and informed decisions, and adapt to the ever-changing battlefield conditions. The integration of unique abilities, type interactions, positioning, and resource management creates a complex and rewarding combat system that keeps players engaged and challenged.

# Catching Loops

In Chainmonsters, the catching loop revolves around the use of the Replicator device to capture new Chainmons.&#x20;

## Catching Loop in Chainmonsters

**1. Encountering Chainmons:**

* **Exploration:** Players explore various environments in the game world, such as forests, caves, and grasslands, to encounter wild Chainmons.
* **Random Encounters:** While exploring, players randomly encounter wild Chainmons, initiating the opportunity to capture them.

**2. Initiating Capture:**

* **Replicator Device:** To capture a Chainmon, players use the Replicator device. This device is essential for the catching process.
* **Energy Consumption:** Each use of the Replicator consumes a certain amount of energy. The device has a limited energy capacity and must be managed carefully.

**3. Attempting Capture:**

* **Engaging the Chainmon:** Players engage the Chainmon in a battle to weaken it, making it easier to capture. Successfully reducing the Chainmon's health increases the chance of a successful capture.
* **Capture Mechanics:** Once the Chainmon is sufficiently weakened, players use the Replicator to attempt the capture. The likelihood of success depends on the Chainmon's health, rarity, and type.

**4. Successful Capture:**

* **New Chainmon:** If the capture is successful, the Chainmon is added to the player's collection. This new Chainmon can be used in battles, trained, or minted and then traded.
* **Rewards:** Successful captures also yield additional rewards such as experience points, items, or in-game currency.

**5. Energy Management:**

* **Energy Depletion:** The Replicator's energy depletes with each capture attempt. Once the energy is fully depleted, the device cannot be used until recharged.
* **Recharging:** Recharging the Replicator takes place in real time. The time required for a full recharge varies but can be several hours.
* **Speeding Up Recharging:** Players can consume Shards to speed up the recharging process. Shards are a valuable in-game resource that can be earned through gameplay or purchased.

**6. Strategic Use of Shards:**

* **Balancing Resource Use:** Players must balance the use of Shards between speeding up the Replicator recharge and other in-game needs. Efficient use of Shards can enhance the player's ability to capture more Chainmons in a shorter period.

**7. Repeating the Loop:**

* **Continual Exploration:** Players continue to explore and encounter new Chainmons, repeating the catching loop.
* **Enhancing Collection:** As players capture more Chainmons, they can build a diverse and powerful collection, enhancing their overall gameplay experience.

#### Summary

The catching loop in Chainmonsters involves a cyclical process of encountering, battling, and capturing wild Chainmons using the Replicator device. Managing the Replicator's energy and strategically using Shards to speed up recharging are key aspects of this loop. By continually exploring and capturing new Chainmons, players expand their collection and improve their in-game capabilities. The integration of real-time resource management and strategic decision-making adds depth and engagement to the catching experience.

<figure><img src="https://3938857582-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FtDi10wH6i67iIiGA4kOy%2Fuploads%2FXguUAj6VXxoAzlvsP0Q2%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=19ecec79-61fe-4c93-b393-838554abab84" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Chainmonsters come in different variations.

[Plain Chainmons](/game-economy/assets/chainmons/plain-chainmons) are obtainable through normal free gameplay by catching them in the wild or purchasing from special vendors in-game.

[Awoken Chainmons](/game-economy/assets/chainmons/awoken-chainmons) were previously obtained in-game and then minted on-chain, revealing their unique Individual Values and any hidden potential waiting inside.

* Awoken Chainmons do not lose any capabilities when minted, instead their utility is fully unleashed! You can continue to level and enhance them just like Plain Chainmons.

# Plain Chainmons

Plain Chainmons are the basic version of any Chainmon you encounter and obtain directly in-game.&#x20;

They are captured using the [Replicator ](/game-mechanics/catching/replicator)devices and act the same way as [Awoken Chainmons](/game-economy/assets/chainmons/awoken-chainmons) except that their individual stats and unique nature is hidden and they cannot be traded with other players.

After reaching a certain minimum Level, you can trigger their Awakening to mint them into an NFT using[ $MONSTER](/usdmonster-tokenomics).

This process upgrades any Plain Chainmon and unleashes their true form when [awoken](/game-economy/assets/chainmons/awoken-chainmons).

# Awoken Chainmons

Any Chainmon obtained in-game can be converted into an Awoken Chainmon by minting them on-chain using [$MONSTER](/usdmonster-tokenomics).

This minting creates an exact copy as an NFT on-chain and imbues a couple of important, additional attributes inside. The Plain Chainmon is replaced by the NFT. You can imagine this as a grading process compared to traditional trading cards where their true potential and value is released.

* Season: The Season during which it was minted
* Serial Number: Each Season, the serial number is reset to 1 creating a unique gameplay element
* Individual Values: These are hidden for Plain Chainmons and are revealed in this process, making it easy and convenient to determine the overall strength and potential of a Chainmon
* Minted: The exact time this Chainmon was minted
* OriginalTamer: Make yourself immortal by being recognized as the original Tamer/Collector for all eternity! Did you purchase that specific Chainmon that Streamer XYZ minted in their most famous streaming event?

# Land

## Crafting and Building <a href="#land-craftingandbuilding" id="land-craftingandbuilding"></a>

Use your plots of Land to customize to your liking or specialize in farming and increasing your overall Chainmon’s capabilities!

Land comes in different qualities, each with its perks.

[**Plain Land**](/game-economy/assets/land/plain-land): Available to everyone for free as part of the Story.

* Plain Land has less resources than Blessed Land but the available resources provide a fair starting point for everyone

[**Blessed Land**](/game-economy/assets/land/blessed-land): Increased resources and variety, can host exceptionally rare resources otherwise very rare in the world itself, therefore enabling autonomous farms and processing in a convenient way.

# Plain Land

Plain Land is made available to all players and unlocked when you progressed the story enough.

The resources available provide each player with a general same baseline with every other Plain Land but the Secondary Resource is limited, creating the need for you to spend more time venturing the world and gathering resources manually than to being able to setup more advanced, autonomous farms compared to Blessed Land.

# Blessed Land

There are three different regions - Northern, Tropical and Lakeside.

Each Land has a bunch of randomly generated traits and attributes that make each NFT unique.

## Resources <a href="#uniqueland-resources" id="uniqueland-resources"></a>

#### Artifact (10% chance, optional) <a href="#uniqueland-artifact-10-chance-optional" id="uniqueland-artifact-10-chance-optional"></a>

Possible artifacts include:

* Claw Fossil

Chainmonsters utilizes state of the art technologies, merging the best of battle-tested Web2 game development architectures with a stellar Web3 approach.

#### Unity Game Engine

* Chainmonsters is built with Unity since 2017, providing a robust and strong core to the development. The graphical fidelity connected with the complex game mechanics and Unity's cross-platform capabilities made it a perfect and proven choice right from the start.

#### Epic Online Services

* The integration of the Epic Online Services is a crucial aspect of the user experience, allowing us to follow best practices from a user experience POV including anonymous account creations for example - enabling players, who have no experience with blockchain yet, to enjoy the game and be onboarded over time through a clean and smooth user journey.
* This also speeds up our development process as we can access a wide range of additional Epic Games' services to handle social features, leaderboards and access to their Epic Games Store presence.
* Epic's Easy-Anti-Cheat is the industry standard and enhances our anti-cheat capabilities by adding yet another security layer on top of our authoritative server architecture.

#### Blockchain Interoperability&#x20;

* Custom blockchain services sit in between the game servers, databases and backends to keep the NFTs up to date in real-time with the actual game state, enabling a seamless experience where the gaps between decentralized NFTs and centralized servers diminishes.
* The Interoperability Framework offers a complexity and utility to both Chainmonsters and Third-Party NFTs that has the potential to change the entire industry.

#### Wombat

* Integration of Wombat and the Spielworks ecosystem enables Chainmonsters to access their **7 million users** community from day 1!

By utilizing this mix of battle-tested and proven technologies across Web2 and Web3, Chainmonsters is able to deliver a seamless and deeply integrated gaming experience.
